The 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship returns to action in Portugal this weekend; the Kawasaki Racing Team is delighted to see Mathis Valin and Pauls Jonass rejoining Romain Febvre for the seventh round of the series.

Both Mathis and Pauls are now judged sufficiently fit enough to rejoin the paddock following their recent injuries and, after several weeks away from the track, they have each resumed training on their KX machine a few days ago.

Even though they have never stopped their physical training programmes they have missed the intensity and rhythm of racing so Portugal will be a good opportunity for each to continue building again.

At Agueda they will join their teammate Romain Febvre, who has enjoyed a successful start to the season in both the World and the Dutch Championships; unbeaten so far in The Netherlands after his double win last weekend Romain has collected five podiums in the six rounds of the MXGP World Championship to date and is currently second in the series points standings.

Having been on the podium at Agueda in both 2023 and 2024 Romain will aim to reduce the points-gap to the series leader this weekend, while his teammates will enjoy the racing feeling again during the next back-to-back races in Portugal and Spain.

Mathis Valin: “It was great to finally be back on the bike, and it was an incredible feeling to ride without any pain! I had fun riding again, like before the crash I would say. This little break was a good opportunity to look back and to analyze the start of the season, and I feel ready to be back in the GPs in great shape. I did some testing recently with the team and everything went perfectly, so I’m ready for Agueda.”

Pauls Jonass: “ I’m really excited to be back racing again; actually the recovery after the crash in Sardinia went better than expected. We had some really good training the last few weeks and the feeling is good. I'm excited to get back behind the gate, start rebuilding step-by-step, and then continue to do so through this long season to shoot for some podiums in the future.”

Romain Febvre: “ Last weekend went really well with 1/1 at the Dutch Masters; it was a good day. I had two great starts; that is something we have been working on really hard recently. We have found some good settings and now we have to repeat this at the GPs as it’s such an important part of every race. I am feeling really good at the moment, both physically and with the bike, and the goal is to continue like this throughout the entire season!”

Antti Pyrhonen: “We are very pleased to have the team complete again; we started the season scoring good results in both classes but unfortunately in the muddy GP at Cozar Mathis made a small mistake and damaged wrist ligaments. He bravely raced his home GP at St Jean in pain but after that it was clear that it was not possible to race back-to-back GPs so during this time he has concentrated on recovery, doing a lot of work and physical training, and now he was able to do some training on the bike again. Pauls had a big crash during the training session on Sardinia; it was really unfortunate as he had a very consistent season until then, but, exactly the same as Mathis, it was clear that he couldn’t race three back-to-back GPs. We took the time he needed to recover and now he has had a good training; it’s very important for both of them to get back to race rhythm step-by-step. The boys each did a lot of hard work throughout the winter and to miss those races was a little frustrating so we are really happy for them to be back. We have not set specific goals for Mathis and Pauls this weekend so they can play themselves in at a pace they feel happy with but at least now they can continue this long season and earn the rewards for all their hard work.”
